Fireman, Second Class, Ralph A Kirkwood, was killed in action on the 28th April, 1944 serving on board LST531, during the action with the e-Boats.
Ralph Kirkwood left a wife, Mrs. Martha Kirkwood, in Dayton, Ohio, and is buried in Plot E, Row 6, Cambridge American Cemetery, England.

- Tablets of the Missing at the Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial, Cambridge, England;
- A cenotaph memorial in McFall Cemetery, Gentry County, Missouri; and is
- Listed in the American Memorial Chapel Roll of Honour at St. Paul’s Cathedral, London.
Ralph A Kirkwood was awarded a Purple Heart.
