The Exercise Tiger Trust is a UK registered charity which was founded in 2004 to commemorate the American servicemen who died during Exercise Tiger on 28th April 1944.

The original founder of the charity has been forced to retire due to ill health and the new Trustees have taken the decision to move the trust firmly into the 21st century.

The aim of the Trust is to provide an online resource of content for research, to educate, and to inform. The digital library and archive collections will be available free of charge, for relatives, students and enthusiasts to learn, understand and appreciate the action which took place and the sacrifices made.

In addition, we intend to create an online, searchable database of all those who lost their lives so this virtual museum will form a perpetual memorial to all those who died.

''...as I lie turf-clad and freed of passion, and of pain,
I find my sacrifice of golden things not wasted;
Your peace is bought with mine, and I am paid in full, and well,
If but the echo of your laughter reaches me in hell.''

About the Charity, Trustees and Patrons

As a UK registered charity, Exercise Tiger Trust exists to create a better society through its work and in common with all other charities, it is dependent upon its trustees and patrons.

In the UK, charity trustees are the people who form the governing body or ‘board’ of a charity. They may be called trustees, directors, board members, governors or committee members, but they are the people with ultimate responsibility for directing the business of the charity.

All the trustees of Exercise Tiger Trust are volunteers, and receive no payment (except out-of-pocket expenses). Any amendments to this status would have to be authorised by the Charity Commission - the governing body of all UK-based charities - and Exercise Tiger Trust would be bound by their decision.

Patrons are supporters of the charity who give freely of their time and aid in the raising of funds and awareness.

The trustees and patrons of Exercise Tiger Trust firmly believe in this ethos, are proud to be associated with the Trust and privileged to be the current custodians.
